The outdoor power equipment industry is preparing for a major shift as Equip Exposition unveils plans for a two-city rotation format starting in 2029. The move is designed to expand international accessibility, increase venue flexibility, and enhance the overall attendee and exhibitor experience.
Orlando and Louisville to Share Hosting Duties
Beginning in 2029, Equip Exposition will rotate between Louisville, Kentucky, and Orlando, Florida.
- 2026: October 20–23 in Louisville, KY
- 2028, 2030, 2032: Louisville, KY
- 2029, 2031, 2033: Orlando, FL (October 10–12 in 2029)
The 2029 Orlando event will be held at the Orange County Convention Center, marking the first time the show expands beyond its traditional Kentucky base.
According to the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI), which owns and manages the show, the rotation strategy aims to deliver greater global reach through Orlando’s direct international air traffic while preserving Louisville’s renowned outdoor demonstration space.
“The Best of Both Worlds”
Kris Kiser, president of OPEI, described the decision as a strategic evolution for the event.
Orlando offers expanded space for dealer meetings, additional co-location opportunities, and broader venue choices for programming. Meanwhile, Louisville will continue to refine and enhance its unique outdoor demonstration capabilities — widely recognized as the only venue of its kind in the country.
This dual-location approach ensures exhibitors and attendees benefit from:
- Improved international accessibility
- Flexible indoor venue options
- Expanded networking and meeting spaces
- Continued access to Louisville’s industry-leading outdoor demo yard
Record-Breaking Growth Continues
Since OPEI assumed full management of Equip Exposition in 2022, the event has experienced consistent year-over-year growth.
The 2025 show expanded to 1.2 million square feet and welcomed nearly 30,000 registered attendees from all 50 U.S. states and 52 countries. This marked attendance and net square footage records for the fourth consecutive year.
Enhanced Outdoor Demo Experience in Louisville
A major highlight of recent shows has been the 30-acre Outdoor Demo Yard at the Kentucky Exposition Center. In 2025, the event debuted a newly expanded UTV test track, drawing significant interest from manufacturers and dealers.
Looking ahead to 2026, organizers have already begun discussions with Louisville Tourism and Kentucky Venues to further enhance the outdoor experience, reinforcing Louisville’s role as a hands-on testing hub for equipment professionals.
What This Means for the Industry
The introduction of a two-city rotation signals continued momentum for Equip Exposition and the broader outdoor power equipment market. By blending Orlando’s international accessibility with Louisville’s unmatched demo capabilities, the show is positioning itself for sustained global growth.
