Halloween in New York City isn’t just for adults—families can enjoy a variety of spooky, fun, and festive events throughout the city this October. From pumpkin patches and fall festivals to light displays and themed walking tours, there’s something for kids of all ages.

1. Trick-or-Treating at Rockefeller Center

On weekends through November 2, plus October 31, families can enjoy trick-or-treating across Rockefeller Center. Kids in costume can participate in activities like face painting, balloon twisting, and even take a ride on The Beam or skate at The Rink for free. Seasonal treats and special retail discounts make this a fun and interactive Halloween outing.

2. The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail at the New York Botanical Garden

Running from September 25 through November 30, this immersive light experience brings Tim Burton’s classic film to life. Kids and adults alike can explore illuminated garden paths, enjoy themed refreshments, and take in the magic of Jack Skellington, Sally, and Zero amid the Botanical Garden’s scenic backdrop.

3. Bronx Zoo Harvest Glow

From September 25 to October 31, the Bronx Zoo offers a festive glow-up for Halloween with over 5,000 carved pumpkins on the Illuminated Jack O’ Lantern Trail. The event also features a nighttime Dinosaur Safari, food trucks, character meet-and-greets, and hands-on crafts. Tickets are available for both kids and adults, making it a full evening of family entertainment.

4. Fall Harvest Fest at Radio Park

On October 23, Radio Park atop Radio City Music Hall transforms into a family-friendly autumn celebration. Kids can decorate pumpkins, make candy apples, and play seasonal games, while adults enjoy seasonal cocktails and festive bites with skyline views.

5. Cityside Pumpkin Patch at Ravel Hotel

From October 3 through November 2, the rooftop at Ravel Hotel in Long Island City becomes a fall wonderland. Families can pick pumpkins, take part in carnival games, try pumpkin smashing, enjoy tarot readings, and capture themed photos—all with the NYC skyline as the backdrop.

6. Halloween on the Farm at Queens County Farm Museum

On October 25 and 26, families can head to Queens County Farm for Halloween festivities including a corn maze, hayrides, trick-or-treating, pumpkin and face painting, and live music. This event combines the charm of a working farm with seasonal Halloween fun, perfect for kids in costume.
